The personal information of Solana (SOL) co-founder Raj Gokal was exposed when the Instagram account of the popular hip-hop group Migos was compromised.
Several images shared by hackers, visible to Migos' 13 million followers, included photos of Gokal and his wife showcasing identity documents like passports and driver's licenses. The hackers demanded 40 Bitcoin (BTC) from Gokal and taunted him for not complying. Furthermore, private details such as phone numbers and email addresses were revealed in some of the posts.
Although Meta swiftly removed the posts and regained control of the account within 90 minutes, the hackers modified Migos' Instagram bio to endorse a meme coin. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT mentioned that the hackers likely used social engineering strategies to target Gokal's personal accounts.
There are concerns that the leaked images, possibly Know Your Customer (KYC) verification files, are linked to the recent Coinbase data breach. However, there is currently no definitive evidence connecting Coinbase to Gokal's data leak, and both Meta and Gokal are yet to issue official statements about the breach.
