In the aftermath of recent issues surrounding the personal lives of top actors Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Woo Sung, Disney+ has opted for a careful and restrained approach, refraining from extensive comments and keeping details about potential risks or contractual measures under wraps.

A significant topic discussed at the recent 'Disney+ Open House event' in Seoul was the status of 'Knock-Off,' a Disney+ original series originally planned for release in the second quarter of this year. Following a personal controversy involving lead actor Kim Soo Hyun, the debut of the show has been indefinitely delayed.

When questioned about any updates on the release of Knock-Off, Choi Yeon Woo, Head of Local Content at Walt Disney Company Korea, cautious stated, “Disney+ has internally decided to delay the release, and this is our official stance. No further updates have been provided.”

Regarding the possibility of Disney+ pursuing penalties or damages from Kim Soo Hyun, Choi responded ambiguously, stating, “It's challenging to provide a clear answer,” without going into further detail.

The conversation also touched on 'Made in Korea,' another eagerly awaited Disney+ series featuring Jung Woo Sung, whose personal life has also stirred controversy.

Taking place in the tumultuous 1970s, the series showcases the driven Baek Gi Tae portrayed by Hyun Bin and the resolute prosecutor Jung Gun Young played by Jung Woo Sung as they navigate a significant scandal defining the era. Helmed by director Woo Min Ho, recognized for works like 'Inside Men' and 'The Man Standing Next,' 'Made in Korea' is set for release later this year.

During the event, Choi addressed inquiries regarding the controversy surrounding Jung Woo Sung, who purportedly confirmed his paternity of model Moon Ga Bi’s child. Choi remarked, “As this concerns the actor’s private life, we find it challenging to comment.”

The personal controversies involving both actors have had a notable impact on Disney+'s content release schedule, with 'Knock-Off' remaining postponed indefinitely and 'Made in Korea' anticipated for release discreetly. Disney+ is exercising caution as it juggles corporate interests with public and media scrutiny surrounding its star talent and content offerings.
