SM Entertainment is set to obtain a notable stake in Great M Entertainment, the agency of K-Pop boy band 82MAJOR. This collaboration with the emerging label marks the initial phase of SM Entertainment's strategy to establish a "multi-label system" as part of its 'SM 3.0' plan. Their objective is to create a diverse network of independent production centers and labels to support the ongoing growth and management of intellectual properties.
Great M Entertainment was founded in March 2020 by Kim Young Sun, a former executive at FNC Entertainment. Kim Young Sun introduced 82MAJOR in October 2023, and the group quickly gained global recognition for their distinctive team concept and style. Their latest project, the 3rd mini album 'Silence Syndrome,' was launched in April this year. The group is gearing up for their solo concert '82 Syndrome' in Seoul scheduled from June 6-8, followed by their first North American tour from June to July.
Additionally, SM Entertainment plans to invest in a variety of domestic and international labels to broaden and enhance the music industry landscape.
