The man and woman who attempted to blackmail South Korean soccer player Son Heung Min have been handed over to the authorities for further investigation. The case involves the woman falsely claiming she was pregnant with Son Heung Min's child and demanding money to keep it secret.

The woman named Yang, in her twenties, allegedly received 300 million KRW in the past from Son Heung Min and is now facing blackmail charges. Additionally, a man in his forties is accused of demanding 65 million KRW from Son Heung Min's side and is being charged with attempted blackmail.

The two suspects were transferred to the prosecutor's office following their arrest eight days ago on May 14. Authorities are looking into whether the pair colluded to extort money from the soccer star, but joint blackmail charges have not yet been applied due to insufficient evidence found in bank records and other sources.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office has handed the case to its Criminal Division 3, known for handling significant criminal cases, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

During the 20-day detention period, prosecutors will investigate any possible collaboration between the suspects before making a decision on formal charges.
