As reported by the media on May 8 KST, the 62nd civil division of the Seoul Central District Court dismissed the intellectual property rights lawsuit brought by management company ATTRAKT against The Givers. ATTRAKT had sued The Givers over the song "Cupid" by FIFTY FIFTY, claiming that The Givers held exclusive rights to commercially use and profit from the song.
The court ruled in favor of The Givers, affirming their sole ownership of the intellectual property rights to "Cupid", including the right to authorize others to use or perform the song. Despite ATTRAKT's assertion that the song was co-created with them, the court found that The Givers had acquired the song from its original creators independently for global distribution.
Consequently, ATTRAKT no longer has any rights to "Cupid", and their girl group FIFTY FIFTY, featuring original member Keena and four new members, will not be able to produce a new rendition of the song. Additionally, FIFTY FIFTY's 'Day & Night' album has achieved impressive sales, crossing the 100,000 copies mark in its debut week, marking a new record for the group.
