Byul recounted noticing symptoms, such as blisters on her lips and around her eyes after attending a wedding. The blisters then spread to her forehead, temples, and scalp, causing pain on one side of her face. Following a diagnosis of shingles at the hospital, Byul sought treatment from specialists in dermatology and ophthalmology, spending the week recuperating at home.

Despite some improvement, Byul continues to experience nerve pain on the affected side of her face, necessitating medication for relief. She acknowledged the varying recovery period and persistent pain in her teeth and ears, urging understanding from others.

Byul, although usually private about health matters, explained her public announcement by citing canceled appointments and the importance of rest for recovery. She noted her children's school break coinciding with her hiatus and hinted at an official announcement regarding her YouTube channel break.
