Lil Durk Receives Second Chance at Freedom After Judge’s Decision

Lil Durk will have another court hearing in May to reevaluate his detention in a federal murder-for-hire case related to a shooting in Los Angeles in 2022. During a recent court session in Los Angeles, Judge Patricia Donahue agreed to reconsider the detention status of the rapper following a request for a hearing. The hearing is scheduled for May 8, 2025, at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Lil Durk has been in custody since his arrest in October 2024 on charges of financing an attack targeting Saviay’a “Lul Pabb” Robinson, the cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, in apparent retaliation for the killing of King Von in 2020. There are disputes between prosecutors and Durk's defense team about the evidence used for his detention, including lyrics from a song recorded prior to the shooting and fan-made videos that were not officially endorsed by Durk or his label. The defense is presenting a revised bond package to secure his release, including real estate equity, cash from Alamo Records, financial support from an associate, private security, electronic monitoring, and strict supervision, with the aim of eliminating any concerns about public safety or flight risk. Despite previous bail denials, Durk's legal team remains hopeful of his release pending trial. The rapper maintains his innocence and denies all charges against him.
