The woman who accused JAY-Z of rape sought to have his defamation lawsuit in California dismissed, arguing that it was filed for malicious reasons and lacked legal basis. The accuser, known as Jane Doe, filed a motion in April 2025 to have the Hip-Hop mogul's countersuit thrown out permanently. Her legal team contended that the original allegations were privileged under California law and that JAY-Z's claims did not support an abuse of process or civil conspiracy. Doe defended herself by stating that her statements in a televised interview were based on court documents and therefore protected from defamation claims.

JAY-Z had filed the countersuit after Jane Doe dropped her rape lawsuit earlier in 2025, a case which was also dismissed permanently. He expressed relief at the outcome, emphasizing that the allegations were fictitious and causing significant distress to him and his family. Additionally, JAY-Z lodged a defamation and malicious prosecution suit against Doe and her legal representatives, accusing them of fabricating claims that harmed Roc Nation and caused emotional distress. The rapper highlighted inconsistencies in Doe's public statements and alleged that her attorney coerced her to name him in the lawsuit, a claim that was denied by the attorney.
