Criticism has been directed at NCT WISH following their recent appearance on SBS PowerFM’s 'Cultwo Show,' where their lack of engagement during the broadcast disappointed many listeners.
The episode aired on April 22 and featured solo artist Chuu, who had recently made a comeback with her mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain,' alongside NCT WISH, who had released their second mini-album 'poppop' earlier that month. While Chuu brought lively energy, quick responses, and a cheerful demeanor to the show, NCT WISH presented a different aura.
Throughout the visual radio show, NCT WISH members appeared disengaged, often looking down, giving brief or hesitant answers, and maintaining a passive presence. In a segment called the 'Kkonyang-i Challenge,' only a few members actively participated, while the rest remained silent, leading to negative feedback from viewers.
Viewers’ live messages reflected the group's demeanor, with comments urging them to be more attentive and interact more actively. Key from SHINee, a senior artist at the same agency as NCT WISH, also commented on the show, encouraging the group to improve their performance.
Host Kim Tae Gyun acknowledged the awkwardness, humorously noting that “NCT WISH is completely frozen.” He appreciated member Sion for showing enthusiasm during a discussion about baseball, mentioning that Sion seemed more animated during that topic.
After the broadcast, online communities criticized the group for appearing uninterested and unprepared. Viewers felt that the overall energy was lacking and that the members did not seem fully engaged. Some suggested that the group might not have been ready for a radio appearance, as radio requires energy and vocal presence.
Although concerns about NCT WISH's on-air attitude have been raised before, supporters noted that the group is young and has international members, possibly contributing to their struggles with live broadcasts. Fans expressed optimism that NCT WISH would become more comfortable with time and bring a stronger presence in future appearances.
