On her birthday, Hyein from the music group NewJeans took the time to share handwritten letters with their fans, expressing gratitude and heartfelt sentiments during a challenging period for the team.
On the 22nd of April, Hyein posted a series of photos featuring handwritten responses on the Instagram page @mhdhh_friends, jointly managed by her and other members of NewJeans. These letters were in response to fan mail and each reply conveyed her genuine thanks.
One of the letters had Hyein modestly admitting, “Honestly, I feel like we haven’t done much for Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom) yet. You all have given us so much more.” In another note, she mentioned, “Knowing that devoted Bunnies are backing us provides us with great strength. It has reminded me of crucial things I never want to forget in life,” and “I believe that we will develop by learning from the challenges we encounter. Thank you for your supportive words.”
Hyein also addressed a letter to all the Bunnies, expressing, “Every single letter has given me strength and solace. I wish I could personally respond to each one. However, as I cannot, I am concerned that those without responses may feel upset.” She continued saying, “I hope you do not feel too disheartened. Every Bunny supporting us holds equal value to me.”
These emotional letters were shared amidst an ongoing conflict between NewJeans and their former management company, ADOR. Last November, the group declared their intention to end their exclusive contract with ADOR and began operating independently under the new name NJZ.
In response, ADOR brought a legal action to confirm the enforceability of the exclusive contract, seeking an injunction to halt NJZ's entertainment activities and restrict them from securing commercial deals.
In March, the court sided with ADOR, resulting in the suspension of NewJeans’ independent endeavors. Despite the group contesting the court’s decision, their objection was rejected. Currently, they are appealing the ruling.
