Kim Soo Hyun's legal team has addressed and dispelled recent speculations regarding outstanding court fees linked to the lawsuit he filed against the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and the Garosero Research Institute (HoverLab).
On April 19, the actor's lawyer confirmed that the required fees, amounting to slightly over 38 million KRW (around $26,790), have been completely settled.
The lawsuit, filed in March, is aiming for 12 billion KRW (about $8.76 million) in damages. Kim clarified in a press conference that his involvement with Kim Sae Ron started when she was an adult and lasted approximately a year. Allegations were made against the late actress's family for tampering with KakaoTalk messages to imply a longer association with Kim. Kim stated that forensic examination revealed that the messages were not from him.
Earlier this month, the Seoul Central District Court issued a corrective order, sparking rumors when Kim's legal team sought an extension on April 16. However, his lawyer pointed out that the extension was a procedural step to confirm the defendants' addresses, particularly one known as the "fake aunt" whose identity is still unknown.
The lawyer mentioned, "It's challenging as we are unable to ascertain her name, contact details, or ID at the moment. Nonetheless, she is facing criminal charges, so her identity will eventually be revealed during the investigation."
He noted that the police might be able to locate her through call records from other related individuals. Although the date for the initial court hearing remains uncertain, it is predicted to progress alongside the ongoing criminal inquiry.
