Male Celebrities Receive Criticism for Sexually Explicit Social Media Posts
/Article

A rising number of male celebrities are facing backlash for sharing sexually suggestive content on their social media accounts, leading to a tarnished reputation. Recently, actor Nam Yoon Soo received criticism after reposting an image showing a balloon sculpture resembling female genitalia. He removed the post following the uproar and later explained that he reposted it unintentionally, claiming he thought his account was hacked. Despite his apologies, the controversy persisted.

This incident adds to a series of similar controversies involving male actors in recent times. Actor Park Sung Hoon faced backlash in December 2023 for sharing a parody of 'Squid Game' resembling an adult video cover, which he later deleted. He was removed from an upcoming series due to the public outcry. Actor Kim Sung Cheol also encountered controversy in February after engaging with inappropriate content on social media, which he claimed to be unaware of. His agency apologized for any harm caused.

These events shed light on the recurring problem of celebrities sharing or promoting sexually explicit material on social media, alienating their predominantly female fanbase and damaging their public image. Cultural critic Ha Jae Geun emphasized the need for celebrities to take accountability for their social media presence to avoid negative influences on their young followers.
