Tesla Launches Cybertrucks in the Saudi Arabian Desert

In Saudi Arabia, Tesla officially launched its operations, indicating a positive turn in the relationship between company CEO Elon Musk and the kingdom. The introduction of Tesla vehicles, including the Cybertruck and a redesigned Model Y sedan, marked the beginning of the EV maker's business in the region. Despite a recent decline in global sales for Tesla, the company aims to expand its customer base, especially with the Saudi government's ambitious plans for increasing electric vehicle adoption to 30% in the next five years. Relations between Musk and the Saudi sovereign wealth fund have improved over the years, despite past disputes, with an aim to boost EV infrastructure and services in the kingdom. Despite the progress, Saudi Arabia still faces challenges in achieving its EV targets, with fewer charging stations compared to neighboring countries. Other EV brands like BYD and Lucid, supported by the Public Investment Fund, are also establishing their presence in the Saudi market. The rift between Musk and the fund's governor originated from a failed bid to take Tesla private, with Musk expressing his frustration in correspondence with Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
