Apple Doesn’t Feel Pressured to Manufacture iPhones in the U.S. Amidst Trade Tensions with China
/Article

It is anticipated that the Trump administration's imposition of tariffs on Chinese products will prompt Apple to consider manufacturing iPhones in the United States. However, the likelihood of this happening is slim despite tariffs on Chinese-made goods reaching 145%. Apple has established a complex supply chain in China over the past few decades, making it costly and time-consuming to relocate production to the U.S. Experts believe that transferring production domestically could triple the iPhone price to over $3,000, potentially harming sales. Analysts suggest that such a move may not happen before 2028. Apple has not yet commented on this matter but may address it during an upcoming financial call in May. The recent drop in Apple's stock price by nearly 20% due to the trade war has raised concerns about potential price increases on its products. The company's ability to maintain current iPhone prices amid the tariffs is supported by its profitable services division, which remains unaffected by the tariffs and continues to contribute significantly to its revenue, according to Forrester Research.
