In a statement made by Brazil's Foreign Trade Secretary Tatiana Prazeres, it was announced that Brazil intends to engage in trade discussions with the United States, while upholding its commitment to multilateralism and aiming to enhance its network of trade agreements. Prazeres mentioned during a Brazil-China Business Council event that the focus is on continuous negotiation with the U.S.

Prazeres highlighted the importance of expanding sales to the European Union to diversify exports. The Mercosur bloc, to which Brazil belongs, is working towards finalizing a trade agreement with the European Union and is in talks with EFTA, the European Free Trade Association consisting of Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.

The Foreign Trade Secretary expressed that Brazil could potentially benefit from changes in trade flows due to recent tariff announcements by the U.S. President, particularly with regards to soybean exports to China. However, she stressed the negative impact of sudden tariff fluctuations on the global economy, emphasizing Brazil's support for multilateralism and stable trade.

Regarding China, Brazil's main trading partner, Prazeres suggested that removing trade barriers could significantly boost Brazilian exports. She mentioned that the relationship with China has both positive and negative aspects, acknowledging the pressure that Chinese exports can place on certain Brazilian industries. Prazeres also noted that Chinese investments in Brazil's automotive sector have helped alleviate some of these challenges.
