Yak Gotti was released from prison on April 9, 2025 after admitting guilt to aggravated battery and resolving all other charges linked to his imprisonment.
Following his guilty plea for aggravated battery and reaching an agreement that dismissed his remaining charges, Yak Gotti was officially freed from prison.
He had been incarcerated since May 2022 after being involved in the extensive YSL RICO case.
Yak Gotti was one of the 28 individuals charged in the high-profile 56-count case that targeted supposed members of Young Slime Life, a group prosecutors alleged was a criminal street gang masquerading as a music label.
Although he was cleared of racketeering and murder in December 2024, Yak Gotti remained in prison due to separate charges related to a violent altercation and contraband accusations in jail.
The incident that led to his guilty plea occurred in June 2024 when Yak Gotti and co-defendants reportedly assaulted another inmate in his cell with an electrical cord, according to prosecutors.
Yak Gotti appeared in Fulton County Court on Wednesday (April 9), where he admitted guilt to one count of aggravated battery.
In exchange for the plea, all other charges, including allegations of riot and assault, were dropped by the prosecutors.
While Judge Paige Reese Whitaker imposed a 12-year sentence, she acknowledged time served which enabled Yak Gotti to be released on probation.
As part of his sentence, Yak Gotti is under probation conditions that prohibit him from possessing firearms or engaging in gang-related activities. His release coincides with an upcoming album, although there is no official release date yet.
Judge Whitaker wished Yak Gotti good fortune with his upcoming album during the sentencing hearing.
