/Article

In the first quarter, the Volkswagen Group saw a significant increase in its delivery of battery-electric cars in Europe, reaching over 150,000 compared to 74,400 in the same period last year, indicating a growing demand for electric vehicles. Orders for Volkswagen vehicles, including electric and combustion engine models, also increased by 29% in Western Europe compared to the previous year. These figures align with data published by German newspaper Bild. The carmaker is set to release more detailed sales information later today. Despite an overall decrease in total car sales, the sales of battery-electric vehicles in Europe have surged this year, attributed to new EU emission targets and the introduction of new models stimulating consumer interest after years of sluggish growth.
