Supreme Court Ruling Supports Trump’s Authority to Fire Federal Workers
/Article

The US Supreme Court has supported President Donald Trump's effort to remove tens of thousands of federal workers by overturning a judge's order that mandated the reinstatement of employees in six government departments. This decision is part of Trump's strategy to cut costs and revise agency priorities. It is the first mass-firing case to be brought before the Supreme Court, with 16,000 affected workers whose employment status was probationary.

The high court ruled that the groups challenging the firings did not have the legal standing to pursue the case. Although workers in several states still have temporary job protection due to a separate case in Maryland, the administration can now continue with dismissals in the six departments covered in the initial ruling. Justices Sotomayor and Jackson dissented from the decision but did not provide detailed explanations for their stance.

The groups fighting against the firings, led by the American Federation of Government Employees, expressed disappointment with the Supreme Court's ruling but affirmed their commitment to seeking justice for unlawfully terminated public service employees.
