The startup Gallatin AI was established in 2024 by Woody Glier, Daniel Buchmueller, and Brian Ballard. After coming out of stealth mode, the company revealed it has raised $15 million in early-stage funding led by 8VC.

Specializing in defense technology, the Washington-based startup plans to revolutionize military logistics by leveraging AI to enhance the efficiency and timeliness of vital supply chain decisions. Gallatin AI's CEO, Woody Glier, emphasized the critical need for advanced software and AI capabilities to address the vulnerabilities in supply lines amidst evolving threats such as drone attacks and geopolitical competition.

With a leadership team comprising experts from reputable tech and defense firms like Palantir, Scale AI, Amazon, and the U.S. Department of Defense, Gallatin AI aims to expand its operations in Washington and California using the funding. The company is particularly focused on recruiting talent for engineering and deployment roles to expand its platform's reach in military services.

8VC, which led Gallatin AI's funding round, recognized a growing disparity between advancements in commercial logistics and military logistics capabilities. Through its Build program, 8VC has supported the growth of defense startups like Gallatin AI to bridge this gap by introducing cutting-edge AI and automation solutions to solve critical logistics challenges faced by the Department of Defense. Other investors in Gallatin AI's seed round include Silent Ventures, Moonshots Capital, Timeless Partners, and Banter Capital.

Gallatin AI's primary offering, Navigator, is designed to streamline resupply processes by integrating real-time data, AI-generated recommendations, and simulation features. By utilizing predictive analytics and automated decision support, the platform aims to ensure military units have access to essential resources like food, fuel, and medical supplies, enabling them to maintain operational readiness and project power effectively.
