According to the International Trade Centre, Japan faces a potential $17 billion loss in car exports to the U.S. due to President Donald Trump's imposition of 25% tariffs on the automotive industry. The automotive sector accounts for 20% of Japan's total exports, with a significant portion destined for the U.S. market. The flat 25% tariff that took effect recently poses a significant threat to Japan's export potential in the U.S., as estimated by Julia Spies, the ITC's chief of trade and market intelligence.
