/Article

The International Monetary Fund's Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, expressed concerns about the significant threat posed to the global economy by the extensive tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. In a statement, Georgieva urged the United States and its trade partners to collaborate constructively to alleviate tensions and avoid further harm to the world economy. The IMF will provide a detailed assessment of these tariffs during its upcoming meetings in Washington, D.C. Georgieva had previously stated that while Trump's tariff policies have created uncertainty and weakened confidence, an immediate recession was not expected. The recently announced U.S. tariffs went beyond previous predictions from trade experts.
