General Motors has announced plans to ramp up the production of light-duty trucks at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This decision was communicated to plant employees through a webcast obtained by Reuters. The move follows the Trump administration's imposition of a 25% tariff on auto imports. Apart from the Fort Wayne plant, GM also manufactures these trucks in Mexico and Canada. Plant Director Dennys Pimenta indicated in the webcast that overtime days might be added to the schedule. This expansion is expected to create additional employment opportunities at the plant, with the hiring of several hundred temporary workers.
