Actress Choi Kang Hee recently discussed her journey of personal growth, mentioning that she has begun studying literacy following an ADHD assessment and psychological counseling.
Recently on April 2, Choi uploaded a video titled "Sharing My Favorite Items (Featuring: Stream of Consciousness)" on her YouTube channel. In the video, she openly talked about her recent interests and efforts towards self-improvement.
Filming at home, Choi shared her new love for tea, saying, "I’ve found a new hobby. Nowadays, I prefer tea to coffee." She revealed that her fascination with tea began after receiving a gift from director Kim Tae Yong and displayed her diverse tea collection.
Additionally, viewers could see literacy improvement books in her home. Choi confessed, "Lately, I've been studying. I read a sentence and try to grasp its meaning." She noted how excessive smartphone use has affected reading comprehension, even among educated individuals. "After taking a literacy test and scoring at a middle school level, I started reading middle school-level books. My curiosity grew from there. While reading about geographical coordinates like latitude and longitude, I realized I lacked a full understanding," she revealed.
During the video, a crew member spotted a question in her book and asked if she had answered it incorrectly. Embarrassed, Choi quickly covered the page. Lightening the mood, she added, "Regardless, I became captivated by Earth and began researching models to comprehend how the Earth, Moon, and Sun interact."
Furthermore, Choi opened up about her ADHD testing experience, prompted by her appearance on MBC's 'Point of Omniscient Interfere' last year. She mentioned that viewers suggested she see a doctor after noticing her quirky behavior. “While some found me charming, others urged me to undergo an ADHD evaluation. I suppose my spontaneous actions, like suddenly doing a headstand, raised suspicion,” she shared. Following the testing and therapy, Choi discovered a newfound interest in art therapy, finding it calming and therapeutic.
Choi Kang Hee’s honest account of her self-improvement journey has struck a chord with many, emphasizing the significance of continuous learning and personal growth.
