On April 2, Soyeon, a member of the popular K-pop group (G)I-DLE, offered followers a peek into her private dining routine through a video on her Instagram story, which she uploaded without any accompanying text.
In the footage, Soyeon can be seen preparing a meal in her home, seemingly eating by herself. She is shown cooking pork belly in a pan, but what stood out to fans was the relatively small quantity she was cooking. The portion of pork belly seemed quite modest, with the individual pieces of meat also appearing to be on the smaller side, surprising viewers.
Known for her bold nature, Soyeon stirred controversy in August when she performed a daring remix of her song during a solo stage at a (G)I-DLE concert, altering the lyrics to include lines like "Why should I care about that s**t?" and "Contract ends in November. Who’s gonna stop me?" This move attracted significant attention, particularly regarding her contractual status and future with the group. At the '2024 MAMA Awards,' Soyeon further fueled speculation about her contract renewal by rapping, "I wouldn't have come this far if I had been affected by stuff like contracts and companies."
Despite causing some concerns among fans with her bold actions, Soyeon alleviated worries during her appearance at the '2024 Melon Music Awards' on November 30, where she publicly declared, "A lot of articles suggested that (G)I-DLE might disband due to my contract ending, but all five of us have collectively decided to renew our contracts." Her announcement was met with applause from fans and fellow artists at the event.
