Prior to its official release, the anticipated drama 'Way Back Love' has been creating considerable excitement.

'Way Back Love' follows the story of Hee Wan (portrayed by Kim Min Ha), a young woman who has lived a secluded life. One day, her first love, Ram Woo (played by Gong Myung), appears in front of her, not as the boy she once knew, but as a grim reaper. Adapted from a novel, the drama narrates a poignant tale blending the thrill of the past with the harsh reality of the present, unfolding over a vibrant week of emotions.

The teaser video, unveiled on April 1, quickly garnered a large viewership within an hour.

The teaser begins with Hee Wan accidentally dropping a piece of bread she was carrying. Ram Woo questions her, "Did I do something wrong?" after she mistakenly addresses him by a different name. Hee Wan responds, asking if anything changed for him after they exchanged names. This scene hints at the destined bond between them, starting with a playful interaction. As Ram Woo, who vanished before, reappears before Hee Wan, time that appeared frozen for her starts to flow again. The drama is anticipated to enhance engagement by transitioning between their innocent past and their altered present.

Even ahead of its official launch, 'Way Back Love' was selected for the 'On Screen' category at last year's Busan International Film Festival, increasing the anticipation. The series skillfully captures the changing feelings of its characters over time, blending the excitement and nostalgic sweetness of first love into a heartfelt story of growing up.

A press event for the series took place on the morning of April 1 at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul, attended by cast members Kim Min Ha, Gong Myung, Jung Gun Joo, and Oh Woo Ri.

Kim Min Ha expressed her appreciation for being involved in the project, stating, "I was grateful that a story I wanted to convey came to me through such a wonderful script. I aimed to portray it with authenticity and a sense of duty."

When asked about a title she aspired to gain from the drama, she humorously replied, "Rather than being known as the 'icon of first love,' I'd prefer to be recognized as the 'icon of unrequited love.' I believe no one has taken that title yet."

Gong Myung also shared his impressions about joining the drama, mentioning, "Upon my initial reading of the script, its youthful yet poignant and poetic ambiance touched my heart."

Discussing his role as a grim reaper, he added, "I studied numerous senior actors who portrayed similar characters. I also engaged in extensive conversations with the director on how to visually depict Ram Woo through costumes and hairstyles. Given that this drama presents a unique interpretation of the grim reaper compared to what the audience is accustomed to, I paid attention to distinguishing between Ram Woo as an individual and as a reaper."

'Way Back Love' comprises six episodes and will premiere on April 3, with two episodes airing weekly.
