Disney+ Denies Inclusion of ‘Knock-Off’ Amid Kim Soo Hyun Controversy
/Article

Disney+ has officially announced that the show 'Knock-Off', featuring actor Kim Soo Hyun, is not currently set to be released. This decision comes after a series of controversies surrounding the actor, such as claims of a past relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was a teenager and accusations of pressuring her to repay debts.

On March 31st KST, Disney+ responded to inquiries about 'Knock-Off' by stating that it is not included in their current release schedule. This is the first direct communication from the company after remaining silent for weeks.

Earlier, a Disney+ representative had mentioned on March 21st that they had decided to postpone the drama's release after thoughtful consideration. Originally planned for an April premiere after 'Hyperknife', 'Knock-Off' now faces an uncertain future.

Industry experts estimate that the production budget for the show was around 60 billion KRW (approximately 40 million USD). If the project gets canceled, Kim Soo Hyun might have to pay penalties ranging from 18 billion to 180 billion KRW (approximately 12 million USD to 120 million USD), depending on the terms of his contract. It is customary for actors to pay double or triple the production cost in damages if a show is scrapped due to personal controversies.

On the other hand, Kim Soo Hyun hosted a press conference on March 31st, strongly refuting all allegations involving Kim Sae Ron.
