Atos, a French IT group, announced on Wednesday that it had secured a five-year contract valued at 150 million pounds ($193.5 million) with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in Britain.
The contract involves managing DEFRA's service desk to consolidate the department's 34,000 users into a unified service platform, according to Atos.
Despite challenges in the market affecting revenues, Atos indicated a rise in its order intake recently. The company, which also delivers crucial IT services to the National Health Service in the UK, successfully implemented a financial restructuring plan last year, preventing financial collapse and resuming client orders.
At the current exchange rate of $1 to 0.7753 pounds, Gianluca Lo Nostro reported from Paris, with editing by Jan Harvey.
