New Details Emerge Regarding MBC Weathercaster Oh Yoanna's Tragic Demise

New reports have shed light on the distressing ordeal late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna allegedly faced due to workplace bullying before her untimely passing last year. It has come to light that her family has taken legal action by filing a civil lawsuit against the individuals believed to have targeted her.

Sources reveal that on January 29, it was disclosed that the family initiated legal proceedings the previous month, citing a harrowing two-year period during which the deceased reportedly endured workplace mistreatment. The foundation of the lawsuit rests on a series of text messages and phone conversations exchanged between the late Oh Yoanna and a coworker prior to her tragic fate.

Some of the distressing messages unveiled phrases like, "Was it warranted for me to be subjected to such harsh treatment?" and "Did I truly commit such severe errors to bear the burden of the weather team's existence?"

Furthermore, her suicide note allegedly identified colleagues she had discord with, accompanied by denunciations such as, "I was disregarded as if I held no sense of obligation."

The family asserts that Oh Yoanna underwent prolonged episodes of public humiliation and verbal abuse before her demise, with no redress or apology extended from the alleged perpetrators. Their rationale for pursuing legal action is rooted in a desire to rewrite history, preventing future occurrences of workplace abuse and hierarchical exploitation.

Moreover, the family has leveled accusations against MBC for purportedly disregarding the issue of workplace bullying and implored for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

In response, MBC refuted claims of prior communication from the deceased regarding the matter to HR or management but pledged to launch a probe upon the family's request.

Reaffirming their commitment to combatting workplace bullying, MBC underscored, "We treat any reports or counseling requests from freelance staff or cast members with utmost seriousness, conducting prompt investigations." The network cautioned against the dissemination of unfounded allegations, stressing the potential harm caused to the deceased's reputation and the risk of further victimization.

Simultaneously, critical commentary inundated MBC's YouTube channel "오늘비와?" ("Will It Rain Today?"), condemning the weathercasters implicated in the bullying accusations. Viewers left scathing remarks on weather broadcast videos, accusing the individuals of tormenting Oh Yoanna and expressing their dismay.

Despite the public outcry, the accused weathercasters have chosen to remain silent on the allegations, steadfastly continuing their appearances on air.

Oh Yoanna, who tragically passed away in September 2023, had a background as a former idol trainee and clinched the title of "Sook (fifth place)" in the 2019 Chunhyang Beauty Pageant. She commenced her journey as a public weathercaster at MBC in 2021, presenting weather forecasts on both weekdays and weekends.
