A spokesperson representing the deceased Kim Sae Ron has strongly refuted allegations made by an individual known as A, who claimed to be Kim's former boyfriend. A had blamed Kim's death on an abusive spouse and neglectful family, rather than actor Kim Soo Hyun.
Kwon Young Chan, the head of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, disclosed in an interview with CBS No Cut News on March 25 that Kim Sae Ron's parents had supported her through numerous suicide attempts during her life.
Kwon revealed that Kim had attempted suicide around 20 times, with her parents taking her to the hospital on 18 occasions. On the day A and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho claimed that Kim's agency paid for her surgery, Kim had not been in touch with her mother. Consequently, her manager accompanied her, as her mother, who works as a designated driver and sleeps in the daytime, was unaware of the situation. Kwon explained that when the agency’s CEO learned of this, they reprimanded the manager for failing to inform the family.
Kwon challenged A's assertions that Kim suffered due to an abusive husband by highlighting that Kim and A only dated for a month, making it unlikely that Kim would have confided intimate details in him. Moreover, A's attempt to shift blame from Kim Soo Hyun to Kim's family raised doubts about his credibility.
Kwon delved into Kim Sae Ron's complex relationship with her mother, who had managed her since she was a child actor. Despite disagreements over career choices and relationships, their 25-year bond was described as a blend of love and resentment.
Regarding the alleged payment of 5 million KRW for Kim's emergency surgery, Kwon questioned the high fee, which appeared suspicious and possibly involved money laundering tactics. He noted discrepancies in the payment details and raised concerns about the transparency of the financial transactions.
Amidst the controversy surrounding Kim Sae Ron's private life, her family is anticipated to issue an official statement soon as the public dispute continues to unfold.
