Malaysia is set to increase monitoring of Nvidia Corp.’s chip exports following a request from the US to ensure strict oversight of advanced semiconductors that could potentially end up in China. The Trade Minister disclosed that Washington urged Malaysia to inspect Nvidia chip shipments more closely to prevent unauthorized transfers to other destinations. This initiative aligns with Singapore's efforts to investigate the allocation of servers suspected of containing Nvidia chips, which were allegedly shipped from Singapore to Malaysia. Three individuals are facing fraud charges for purportedly deceiving server suppliers about the true end users of the equipment. Officials from Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and representatives from Nvidia have not provided immediate responses for comments on the matter.
