The Seoul Central District Court's 50th civil division granted ADOR's injunction request against the five members of NewJeans (NJZ) on March 21 KST. ADOR sought to restrict NJZ from engaging in activities outside of ADOR. ADOR had filed the injunction request in January following a press conference by NJZ on November 28. The court agreed with ADOR's argument that it was a breach of contract for NJZ members to pursue independent activities under a new group name before a final decision by the court. The court also approved ADOR's requests to prohibit the members from music-related activities such as writing, composing, singing, performing, and other broadcast activities. At a court hearing on March 7, NJZ members claimed they faced discrimination and exclusion while under ADOR and HYBE Labels, justifying their contract termination. However, the court agreed with ADOR that NJZ members couldn't freely engage in entertainment activities without a formal court decision on their contract termination. NJZ had plans to perform at 'Complex Con Hong Kong 2025' on March 23, but the court's decision raises uncertainty about their performance and future schedules. The court will hold the first hearing to review the exclusive contract between ADOR and NJZ on April 3. Additionally, NJZ fans have submitted a petition supporting the members' independent activities to the court.
