According to Kyodo News, Mitsubishi Motors in Japan, a partner of Nissan Motor, is considering outsourcing the production of electric vehicles to Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn. The collaboration aims to reduce production costs and accelerate the development of Mitsubishi's product lineup. Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, sees this as an opportunity to partner with Nissan and Honda in the electric vehicle sector.
Following the recent failed merger between Nissan and Honda, Mitsubishi Motors may explore software development for electric vehicles with Honda and Nissan. Sources suggest that Nissan is open to forming new partnerships, including with Foxconn. The collaboration is expected to be formalized by the end of March as per Kyodo News. Mitsubishi Motors was unavailable for immediate comment.
