Big U maintained his innocence and accused informants of framing him in a video he posted before turning himself in to federal authorities. In the clip shared on Instagram as he traveled to surrender in Los Angeles to face serious RICO charges, he denounced the allegations against him as baseless and expressed confidence in his eventual exoneration.

The indictment accuses him of leading a criminal group called "Big U Enterprise," implicated in crimes like murder, fraud, extortion, and human trafficking. It also alleges that he diverted funds meant for his nonprofit organization, Developing Options, and submitted fraudulent applications for COVID-19 relief aid.

In his video, Big U blamed individuals named Wack 100 and 600 for his legal troubles. He asserted that 600 was present during a police raid on his home and suggested that Wack 100 collaborated with law enforcement. Big U also claimed that authorities probed him about conflicts involving Wack 100 and Luce Cannon and criticized those supporting his accusers online.

Despite the accusations, Big U highlighted his positive contributions to the community and denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing the challenges faced by Black individuals trying to make a difference in their communities. Federal authorities had labeled him a fugitive by March 20, 2025, following his indictment with 18 others associated with the Rollin' 60s Neighborhood Crips gang. Prosecutors alleged that Big U used his connections in the music industry for criminal purposes and used his anti-gang charity as a front for financial misconduct, including witness intimidation and donor fraud.
