Eugene Henley Jr., also known as Big U, is facing allegations of shooting a rapper and leaving him in the desert, leading to him being considered a fugitive as of March 19. Henley has been accused of running a criminal enterprise associated with the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips street gang. The charges include conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, involving activities like extortion, human trafficking, fraud, and murder.
The organization controlled by Henley, named the "Big U Enterprise," is said to have operated as a criminal group emulating mafia-style tactics from 2010 until today. One of the most serious accusations against Henley is his alleged involvement in the murder of a rapper who had recorded a track that provoked him. Apart from violent crimes, Henley is also accused of financial fraud, including obtaining a fraudulent COVID-19 relief loan and misappropriating funds donated to his charity meant to help at-risk youth in South Los Angeles.
While Henley is on the run, two other alleged members of his criminal enterprise have been apprehended. If convicted, Henley could receive a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. This case originates from a comprehensive investigation conducted for four years by law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles with the aim of tackling gang violence and organized crime. Henley had previously been incarcerated for 13 years after being involved in a failed cocaine robbery attempt in 1991 and has been associated with the likes of Nipsey Hussle and Wiz Khalifa in the music industry.
