Saudi Aramco-backed industrial software company Cognite has inaugurated its AI services hub in Bengaluru, India, and is looking into potential partnerships with leading corporations in the country. The company's investments in India are set to escalate, with millions of U.S. dollars already committed. Cognite's software enhances the efficiency and safety of industrial installations like oil platforms, and it operates under the ownership of Aker ASA, the investment entity of Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Roekke.
CEO Girish Rishi highlighted that the move to India was driven by the country's growing prominence as an alternative to China. This shift aligns with the trend of global companies like Apple, Tesla, and Jabil expanding operations in India due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to attract foreign investment.
The rise of AI technology is reshaping the operations of various industries, with manufacturing companies leveraging it to streamline processes, enhance product quality, and optimize supply chains. Cognite, now headquartered in the U.S., serves clients such as AkerBP, Cosmo Energy Holdings, and Koch Chemical.
In February 2022, Saudi Aramco's Aramco Overseas Company B.V. acquired a 7.4% stake in Cognite.
