The YouTube channel ‘MaeBoolsShow’ has issued an official apology for the controversial comments made by cultural critic Kim Gap Soo regarding the late Kim Sae Ron and has announced that the segment featuring him will be discontinued permanently.

During a live broadcast on March 18 KST, the show’s hosts expressed their regret over the previous day’s broadcast, stating, “We deeply apologize for the controversy it has caused. While we understand the importance of offering a specific apology, we are refraining from providing further details to avoid exacerbating the situation or causing unintended harm. We acknowledge this limitation and sincerely apologize.”

The hosts also declared, “The segment under scrutiny will be terminated permanently. We pledge to approach our broadcasts with greater caution and engage in introspection. Once again, we offer our heartfelt apologies.”

The controversy arose from the March 17 episode of ‘MaeBoolsShow’, where Kim Gap Soo made inappropriate remarks within the ‘Afternoon MaeBool Debate’ segment regarding the rumored past relationship between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun.

Kim commented, “The coverage of this news seems to portray dating a minor as a serious offense.” He added, “Being a former child actress, Kim Sae Ron may have been exposed to social norms at an early age. I heard that she began dating at 16 with a 27-year-old man. Personally, I wouldn’t have seen her as a romantic partner at that age due to her youth. I have never pursued relationships with younger women, as it does not align with my values.”

Despite being cautioned by the host that his choice of words was inappropriate, Kim persisted by stating, “It’s simply a matter of personal preference, isn’t it?”

After facing criticism, ‘MaeBoolsShow’ edited out Kim Gap Soo’s remarks from the uploaded video, but the negative feedback persisted. The channel’s decision to discontinue the segment permanently reflects its commitment to addressing the controversy and avoiding similar incidents in the future.
