Swiss logistics company Kuehne und Nagel announced plans to open a new road logistics facility near the Mexican border in Texas in response to the increasing demand for customs support between the United States and Mexico. The decision was not directly tied to President Trump's tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports imposed in March, although it aims to address the rising need for cross-docking and customs brokerage services at the U.S.-Mexico border. The new site in Laredo, Texas, is intended to facilitate near-shoring for companies looking to manufacture or source products closer to home, enabling faster deliveries, cost savings, and avoidance of trade complications. Retailers like Walmart and Nestle are among those shifting toward near-shoring. The facility is expected to be fully operational by mid-April.
