Actor Yoo Yeon Seok has recently responded to the controversy surrounding the National Tax Service’s notification of a 7 billion KRW (about $5.3 million) tax surcharge. His agency, King Kong by Starship, clarified that the issue stemmed from differences in tax laws interpretation and application between the tax agent and authorities. They emphasized that the matter is still pending confirmation and reassured that they would address it through proper legal procedures.
It was reported earlier that the NTS had notified Yoo Yeon Seok of the hefty tax surcharge after a thorough tax audit, which included income taxes. Yoo Yeon Seok has challenged this decision and initiated a pre-tax review process in January to dispute the tax authorities' actions.
Yoo's representatives are currently in the process of recalculating the tax liability through the review procedure, aiming to significantly reduce the surcharge from 7 billion KRW to around 3 billion KRW. They expressed confidence in resolving the matter through legal interpretation and application, highlighting the actor’s commitment to fulfilling his tax obligations responsibly.
