Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband, Wang So Bi, has broken his silence for the first time since her passing.

In a live broadcast, Wang So Bi reassured everyone about the well-being of their children, providing his first public statement following Barbie Hsu’s death. He shared, “The condition of the two children has improved significantly. They are currently living with my wife and seem to be relatively harmonious.”

He added, “As a father, my priority is the physical and mental health of my children, so I have chosen to stay with them during this challenging time. I am determined to navigate this period with strength and I am hopeful that the children will soon return to a sense of normalcy. Despite the loss of their biological mother, their stepmother is lovingly caring for them. My wish is for the disputes between adults to not disrupt the innocence of the children’s world.”

Reports from Sohu Entertainment and Chinese media indicate that Wang So Bi has come to an agreement on the inheritance distribution and is making plans to settle past debts, easing the situation for Barbie Hsu’s mother regarding any claims. Wang So Bi had previously faced financial challenges amounting to 250 million yuan (approximately 49 billion Won, 34 million US Dollars), which included mortgages and the expenses of a luxurious apartment in Taiwan, where Barbie Hsu resided.

Barbie Hsu tied the knot with Wang So Bi in 2011 and welcomed a son and a daughter before their divorce in 2021. Later, she reunited with her ex-boyfriend from two decades past, Koo Jun Yup, marrying him in 2022. Tragically, Barbie Hsu succumbed to acute pneumonia while on a trip to Japan on February 2nd. The heartbreak from her loss has visibly affected Koo Jun Yup, who reportedly shed 6 kg in one month and is struggling with grief, even halting intake of food and liquids, stirring concerns for his well-being.

Amid the unfolding events, the controversy over Barbie Hsu’s inheritance lingers. By Taiwanese law, the estate was to be split equally among Koo Jun Yup and her two children, granting each a one-third share. However, tensions rose when Barbie Hsu’s mother denounced Koo Jun Yup, labeling him a liar and expressing regret, sparking assumptions of a rift.

The discord stemmed from Koo Jun Yup’s promise to relinquish his share of the inheritance to his mother-in-law and safeguard the children’s entitlement through legal means upon Barbie Hsu’s demise. Dismayed by the escalating speculations, Barbie Hsu’s mother cautioned against assumptions before deleting all traces of Koo Jun Yup from her social media, further stoking conjectures.
