Lil Baby's legal team fiercely criticized allegations made by authorities linking the rapper to a tragic gang-related shooting, deeming the accusations as "unethical."
Atlanta Police Department faced backlash from Lil Baby's attorneys for associating the rapper with the shooting deaths of two teenagers in the midst of a purported gang dispute last summer.
In a recent press briefing, law enforcement disclosed the apprehension of seven individuals in connection to the fatal shooting of Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman, both 13, on July 2, 2024, in Atlanta.
The police linked the tragic incident to a gang conflict believed to have ignited from an earlier shooting incident at Lil Baby's music video filming in May 2024, alleging it triggered a chain of retaliatory shootings between rival groups 4PF and OMF.
Major Ralph Woolfolk condemned Lil Baby's alleged involvement, stating that his actions were "cowardly," insinuating his presence in a rival gang's territory that led to the escalation.
Contrary to the police claims, Lil Baby's legal representatives, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, rebuked the allegations in a statement addressed to WSBTV′s Michael Seiden on Friday morning, denouncing the insinuation as baseless.
"The insinuations made by the Atlanta Police Department during the press conference were baseless and preposterous," his legal counsel asserted. "Implying that he was responsible for a crime he had no part in is a disgrace."
Moreover, they clarified that Lil Baby was deeply distressed by the teenagers' tragic deaths, emphasizing his roots in the neighborhood and his commitment to uplifting the community.
Dismissing rumors of his arrest, Lil Baby took to social media to assure his fans of his well-being, urging them not to be swayed by false information with a post on his Instagram Stories, reading, "Thanks For All The Concerns. Please Don't Be Misinformed By Fake News!! I'm Overly Good."
