Korean fan union, Team Bunnies, has strongly criticized the recent press conference held by five major music industry associations in a scathing statement. The union raised concerns about the credibility of the association members, highlighting past controversies involving some of the leaders.
Team Bunnies pointed out that certain executives within these associations have been previously implicated in child abuse cases against artists and trainees, unfair interference in broadcast activities, involvement in price-fixing scandals, and embezzlement of music royalties. They questioned whether these individuals, who turn a blind eye to the industry's issues and fail to address wrongdoings, are fit to judge and accuse artists.
Moreover, Team Bunnies called out the associations for appearing to support specific entities like HYBE and ADOR in the "NewJeans case" while claiming neutrality. They accused the associations of biased media engagement that favors labels over artists, emphasizing the need for impartiality.
The statement by Team Bunnies sheds light on the darker side of the K-Pop industry, highlighting mistreatment of trainees, violations of artists' rights, unfair competition practices by record labels, chart manipulation, and infringement of fans' and consumers' rights. The union urged for a fair assessment of situations and emphasized the importance of hearing both sides before making judgments.
