Hong Kong Airline Employee Busted for Selling BTS and Celebrity Flight Details
In a shocking revelation, a Hong Kong airline employee has been apprehended for illegally peddling flight reservation details of BTS and other prominent celebrities, as disclosed by the cyber crime unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The authorities disclosed on February 24th KST that they are presently probing a 30-year-old woman (referred to as A), employed by an international airline, who purportedly breached access to and disclosed hundreds of flight particulars from 2023 to 2024.
Reportedly, A, leveraging her insider privileges to the booking systems, would scour the airline's software for celebrity names and birthdates to procure confidential flight specifics, including seat allocations.
Subsequently, she monetized this sensitive intel, fetching premium prices for A-listers like BTS, alongside divulging precise seating configurations. Investigators approximate that she traded over 1,000 datasets, reaping profits exceeding 10 million KRW (~$7,000 USD).
In her purported confession, A admitted to initially disseminating the data as a gesture to acquaintances but eventually transitioned to commercializing the data.
